Protect Yourself From Computer Hackers

Protect Yourself From Computer Hackers: Computer Scientists Say Hackers Prey On Those Who Don't Protect Themselves

No matter where you are, at home, school, work, or on your mobile phone, someone can easily hack your internet source. In the article, “Computer Scientists Say Hackers Prey on Those Who Don't Protect Themselves”, scientists go on to discuss how people are their own worst enemy when it comes to allowing their personal information to be hacked. The number one reason that people get hacked is because they tend to make their passwords with too easy or use basic personal information that most people could find out with a click of the button.

People need to use not only letters, but numbers and capital letters. By doing this it makes room for several if not hundred different combinations for passwords. So say you need a password for your email, instead of just using something like ilovemydog, put something more complex like Tyson-1999. By doing that you are using four components, capital letters, lower case letters, numbers and symbols. This will make hackers have a trickier time trying to figure out your password. Another common mistake is the amount of letters/numbers/symbols used in a password. The longer the password is the harder it will be to try and put the combination of type of symbols together.

Now only can hackers hack from passwords and personal information, but they are able to hack through virus downloaded onto a computer. If you download a program if there is a virus they will be able to take over your computer just from downloading it, allowing the person on the other side to take over your computer with a click of a button. For example, Nichols College has their own internet server, if they wanted to they can hack into what websites you have been on and what type of research you have been doing. How scary is that?
