Pinterest is sweeping the nation, people are tweeting about
it and talking about how fun and easy it is to use. I recently learned about Pinterest and how it works. It is not something I would probably
use but I also said that about both Facebook and twitter and look at me now, a
frequent tweeter and an EX “Facebook creeper.” With Pinterest you can pin things that you enjoy looking at
such as recipes, quotes, decorations, and cute pictures. You are sharing things you love with
people who follow you. It has
become really big for people to use when planning a wedding.
So I chose to look at the article “Why Pinterest Trumps
Facebook at Social Commerce, For Now” The article talks about how Pinterest is
slowly starting to become very popular and how it is not as popular as Mark
Zuckerburgs 100 billion-dollar company Facebook but it is starting to gain
magnitude. In the article they say
“You go to a bar because that where your friends are, or other people you might
want to meet. You go to a craft fair because that’s where the cool stuff
is.” I think that was an awesome
analogy. I think Facebook is
becoming too advertised and I think that’s why people are annoyed with it and
are starting to turn to other media sites because Facebook is a dying age.
I have never used Pinterest but it is something I am
considering getting into just because of all the positive feedback I am hearing
about it. I think being involved
with any type of social media at this day in age is imperative to advancing to
future endeavors. I am happy they
had this article up because it gave me the experience to look at the article
but then I went onto look at the Pinterest website and I think it is so
interesting. You can pin food and
anything that is on it. It just is
an opinion of things that you like and that INTEREST you hence the name
Pinterest. Glad I read the article
and learned something new!
Hey Jensen! I just want to start by saying I really enjoyed your blog. Like you until I read your blog I have never heard of Pinterest either. I feel like it is an interesting idea for a website to be able to post various things that interest you. I also was one of those people who said they would never get a Facebook and I still have one today. Being a frequent Facebook user I couldn’t agree more with your point that Facebook is being too focused on advertising. That is one of the things that annoys me about Facebook the most, along with Mark Zuckerburg changing Facebook almost every week. I don’t feel like I would ever get a Pinterest either but who knows it could become the next social media craze and become bigger than Facebook or Twitter. However after reading your blog I did go check out Pinterest to see what is was all about.
ReplyDeleteJensen, I enjoyed reading your response to the article on Pinterest. I hadn't heard of it until I saw this post. I think it’s an interesting way for people to share information although it’s not something I could see myself using every day but I could definitely see the older generations benefiting from this. I liked when you said "if you want to see your friends go to the bar.” it gives a good idea of how I would navigate Pinterest. I may consider looking at Pinterest or at least refer it to a friend or a family member. I don't really see much comparison to Facebook like a lot of people are saying. I could see this be a break through way for old people to trade recipes, for sure. I can't wait to see what types of social media is available to us in the next 5...10 years. It’s going to be crazy!
