Homework Number 6
Pinterest Over Facebook

It is said that retailers are losing faith in Facebook as a platform for e-commerce, it seems, they’re warming up to Pinterest. Which if you don’t know what Pinterest is it’s another social site that is much smaller than Mark Zuckerberg’s  100 billion dollar but faster-growing and its also much more targeted than facebook.

People thought that facebook would turn into a destination like it grew so rapidly that it will turn into a store, a place where someone would shop. But if you think about it that is like trying to sell people stuff while  they are hanging out with there friends at a bar. I think that Pinterest is a lot easier than facebook I haven’t figured out how to actually use  it yet. I just downloaded the application yesterday but from what I heard it is really easy and more targeted than facebook. People are losing interest in facebook and switching to twitter and other things this application is a perfect app for people to switch too. Pinterest is kind of life a craft fair where people would go to exhibit there stuff. And to also check out other vendors in the process. And what those vendors have to offer and there is a little of both where vendors can do the same. Think of it this way you go to a bar because that’s where your friends are or other people that you might want to meet. You go to a craft fair because that is where all the cool stuff is. The reason for this article is because facebook has an argument that its users don’t want to be bothered with commerce. But that is completely wrong because facebook dominates the display ad market and is projected to claim about 20% of the pie this year.  So facebook is still an e-commerce player but Pinterest is rapidly moving and much more targeted and people like this app and use it. Pinterest shows that if your business is selling stuff, a social network of stuff beats a social network of people.  Pinterest Over Facebook.
