How Payvment uses Facebook expanded open graph. What does it mean when a Facebook user clicks "like" on an item for sale--that they have it and like it, or that they would like to have it? That’s what this article was about. What really happens when you” “like” something on facebook. Christian Taylor he is the CEO of Payvment he had said 'Like' never worked for us the way it worked for other mediums," Taylor said. Liking a link to a news story or video may be fairly clear, but in shopping, "'like' is ambiguous," he said. Facebook announced recently was so important, he said. As part of a select group of Facebook application developers working with the company on pilot projects over the past few months, Payvment was able to define "want" and "own" buttons that now appear next to each product listing (although "like" is still there, too, for those who prefer to use it). This is showing that facebook model for integrating external applications that are allowing companies to see what users want. Think of it like this, you go on Target facebook page and they say like their page for gift cards and specials. You do it just because you love Target and as the company see that you like it will be able to mark down your account and know all of your info without you knowing. Facebook introduced a handful of new Open Graph verbs, primarily to allow media sites to post to the news feed when someone read an article or listened to a particular song. Facebook worked closely with Payvment to make sure there would be no repeat of Beacon, a social shopping feature Facebook introduced in 2007 and withdrew when users protested it was sharing data about their online purchases without their consent. "This could be a replay of Beacon, if done wrong," Taylor said. The new "want" button functions as a sort of social wish list, something that friends might consult ahead of a birthday or other occasion. Facebook is starting to approve new Open Graph verbs as part of a more routine process, open to all developers. In my eyes this artlive was confusing it didn’t have a true focus point. But what I got out of it was that facebook is going to keep an eye on what you like and specifically this one company.
What I got from reading this article is that they are adding this button to is not only to make like a wish button for cretin products that you like or maybe want but it is also a way to show what maybe you would like for a present in the future and also it is a way to target people as well because if you like a cretin thing then that gives them permission to not only get your personal information but it also allows yourself to be targeted by them and you will probably be bombarded by so many adds and offers and things like that and it might get annoying after a while so I think that they should not not do it because of that reason I think they should just keep it the way it is now because its not as annoying as other websites.
