My name is Greg Strootman and I was
born on July 11, 1990 in Chester, Pennsylvania. I graduated from Garnet Valley High School in 2008 and took
two years off to play ice hockey before attending Nichols College. During my two years off from school I
lived in Long Beach, New York where I played junior ice hockey for the New York
Apple Core. For the two years off
of school I basically did nothing but play hockey. I had nothing to worry about at all and I was 18 years old
living in an apartment on the beach with 2 other teammates. Moving away at the age of 18 to play
hockey was the best the best decision I have made and the best 2 years of my
life. Taking the 2 years off from
school also added a pretty sweet bonus to school. I am a 21 year old sophomore
which makes school a whole lot more enjoyable. Currently I hold a summer job at
Georgeo’s Fine Desserts where I deliver ice cream to local gas stations,
stores, and etc. I also work in
the warehouse. My duties in the
warehouse include the following:
pick orders for the deliveries the next day, put incoming product away,
and make sure everything that is in the inventory is in an orderly
fashion. I have been employed at
Georgeo’s for over two years now and continue to work there until I graduate
from Nichols. I really enjoy this
job because I work 5 days a week and have nights and weekends free to do
whatever.
MIS is a new course
for me and I do not know much about what is done throughout the semester, but I
hope to learn a lot more about the computer and applications that can help me
be successful in the near future.
Computers are a big part of today’s generation and this course will be
valuable to me. I am somewhat
familiar with excel but it is not a strong point of mine and I am excited to
learn more about this program.
The article was very
informative and interesting to me because at some point I would like to start
my own business and having an understanding of IT will help me in the long
run.
