Friedmans 10 Flatteners

Out of all most significant flattener from Tom Freidman’s lecture regarding his book, The World is Flat the one main one i thought to myself was the most significant was what he said about the development of work flow and soft ware. Tom Freidman has said in his book or well quoting him that the development of work flow software enabled computer applications to work with one another without human intervention. Saying that the computer does all the work for us. I somewhat agree with him to a certain extent. Because he is right computers especially in the work force or business world do all of the work for us. From programs doing the math for us to robots basically building cars for us instead of humans doing it for themselves. We a a culture and a plant especially in the business field became plan, boring and flat out lazy. Our computers will do long accounting calculations for us when it comes to accounting, and as humans we just sit there and let it do it for us. Also he had said that it enabled faster, closer collaboration and coordination among employees, regardless of their  locations. Meaning that people do not interact with one another in the work place we rather send an email to each other instead of walking ten feet to that person and doing the entire conversation face to face. For instance you ever notice in a work place that people tend to gossip about one another more because they never see that person they just hear what people say about them instead of clearly knowing the true facts about a certain situation. Think about it people in society become or should I say became anti social due to the development of work flow software or technology in general. I agree with what Tom Freidman says. People have become so reliant on work flow software that human interaction is dead. Just ask yourself what happened to people talking to one another and mingling, or even just being friends face to face they rather have Facebook friends and talk to people on there instead of interacting with one another. Everyone and especially people in the work force, when it comes to the development of work flow software.

  1. I would have to agree with you I think that the interactive software is making people less interactive in the work place because I see it at work all the time someone will say did you see that persons picture on face book or they will talk about a video they saw on YouTube and that’s about it they don’t really have any other types of conversations like what was the latest story in the news or how nice it was outside or anything thing else for that matter And people are becoming more and more antisocial and pretty soon people will get so bad that they will be sending texts to each other when they are sitting across the table from each other. But I wonder also what this means for the future I wonder if the technology gets so advance that people don’t even have to leave home to work like they could run a whole factory from home and not even have to talk to another person unless they read an email or facebook message from another person.
