The World Is Flat

Tom Friedman came up with 10 ideas as to why he believes the World is flat. In my opinion I think the most significant theory is Netscape goes public on August 9, 1955. I believe this is the most relevant idea to the World becoming flat because the worldwide usage of the internet has changed the world drastically. You can now order certain items from countries over seas and have them delivered to your home in just a few weeks, 50-100 years ago this was unheard of.
Also, the way business' use the internet is tremendously important. Many large corporations hold meetings visually over the web with clients thousands of miles away. Again, technology like this was a mere dream to people living in the early 20th century. The worldwide expansion of the web has made the world smaller, as Friedman discussed, and also has made it easier to accomplish certain goals that were extremely hard to obtain 50 years ago.
When I first heard Tom Friedman wrote a book called "The World Is Flat" I thought that this guy was a nut and just a far fetched believer. But after listening to his speech on youtube and doing more research about him I've come to realize he is actually a very intelligent man. The facts he presents and his was of thinking is fascinating and is a real eye opener to how to world is changing.
