I think that the most significant flattener was “uploading” because I think that it
was then a way people to get what they wanted to on the internet to share with
people all around the world what they thought was cool or what they wanted to
show people. Also I think it was because then it gave people some confidence in
a way because with uploading it gave anyone the opportunity to become a
superstar even if it was only for a day. Another reason I think that uploading
is a flattener is because then everyone tried to copy someone else and then a
bunch of the same type of things started to pop up and it made it seem like
everyone was trying to be the next star by copying this other person because
they got famous by doing this so they try it and then after they do it they
find out that five other videos came up that same day with the same concept.
But another thing uploading gave us is the freedom to say what we wanted too
about a certain song or a movie we watched and basically give us our own way to
give our opinion on things. Another thing that uploading gave us is it gave a
way for people who like to build programs a way to actually make programs and
software and share it with other people and show that you don’t have to be a
big company to make software and programs and they don’t even have to make money
you can just do it for fun. But another way this is a flattener is the creation
of blogs they started off simple enough as just a way for people to get out
what they want to say but now it has become this huge deal and now everyone has
to have one but it has also tunred the people who blog into almost an army that
will if they get the smallest bit of info will run with it and blow it out of
proportion and most people will believe it because they will get info sources
they don’t know is true or borrow from other bloggers and you don’t know if
their info is true and its just an endless chain. David Lavoie
David,
ReplyDeleteI actually enjoyed reading your blog. I thought it was very insightful on the whole idea behind uploading. The internet is an amazing place and allows people to communicate about feelings, ideas and interests about anything. For example this blogging stuff we have to do for class is based on your whole idea of uploading. We are able to take some so simple, like your thoughts, and put it out there for numerous of people to see and comment. What really makes me enjoy your blog is the last sentence where you say “you don’t know if their info is true and it’s just an endless chain.” This statement is so true. You never know if what people are posting are actually factual or thoughts and that’s what make uploading so interesting and mind boggling.
