Cyber
Attacks Becoming Top Terror Threat for the FBI
In my reading of the Cyber
Attacks Becoming Top Terror Threat, FBI Says by J Nicholas Hoover. Published February
1st 2012 I found out a lot about federal legislation, and there
concern for the nations security pending a cyber attack on the United States. "Stopping terrorists is the number one
priority," said FBI director Robert Mueller. "But down the road, the
cyber threat will be the number one threat to the country. I do not think today
it is necessarily [the] number one threat, but it will be tomorrow."
This clear fear of a cyber assault is a sign we need to defend are selves as a
country against cyber attacks. There are many professionals who see this are a
big threat with high consideration as it should be. The greatest challenges to
protecting against cyber threats, Clapper said, are the difficulty of providing
timely and actionable warning of attacks--he cautioned that "many
intrusions into U.S. networks are not being detected" they just have to know when they are going to
happen ahead of time, but it is hard to research to find out that information
if that information even exists.

I think the nation as a
whole depends on technology and computers for almost everything in our government,
and military. It is dangerous to think that someone could come in and attack
the government take information from them or even taking information from the
privet sector like the economy intrusion in the stock exchange. It could even
get more dangerous is someone could hack into the military system, and possibly
use our own weapons against us. Clapper singled out attacks from China and
Russia as the biggest threats from state actors and said that those two
countries have been responsible for "extensive illicit intrusions"
into U.S. networks, but also said that Iran's cyber capabilities have
"increased in depth and complexity" in recent years. China and Russia have
been high on cyber-watchers' lists of concerns for several years now, but Iran
is a relatively new addition. Iran's military recently claimed that it brought down an American drone by hacking into its
guidance systems. This means that are rivals in the world are getting more
advanced and we have to move along and try to increase are capabilities so that
something like a American drone going down does not happen.
